CLIMATE OF CALABRIA
Calabria, a region located in Southern Italy enjoys a mild and placid climate.  It is gentle in the winter and hot and dry in the summers.  The presence of rugged mountains and stretches of sandy beaches is the main factor behind the diverse climate in Calabria.  The distinctive climate of this region is thoroughly brought out in its weather conditions.  Because of its ideal location at the toe of the Italian peninsula and surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Lonian Sea, Calabria has a Mediterranean climate.
As compared to the Tyrreanean coast, the Ionian coast is much dryer and warmer and is therefore the hottest part on the peninsula.  Heading interior towards the mountains of Sila, you will find a combination of microclimates which leads to a wide range of vegetation.
CLIMATE CONDITION IN CALABRIA
Winter is comfortable, gentle and cool while the summers are dry and hot.  The cold ‘Tramontana’ winds blow from north occasionally for at least 3 to 12 days but as soon as the sun is out, the feel of spring comes.  Thus the summers are hot and long thereby, having maximum of two rain storms between the month of May and September.
Due to the sweltering heat of summers, the autumn rain that comes is very pleasant. As soon as the house martins depart Ciro’ for Africa the blackbirds get there from the northern regions.
TEMPERATURES
The maximum temperatures of spring remain from March to May rising from 17degree Celsius to 24 degree Celsius.  In the month of June the highest temperature might be high as 41 degree Celsius.
Therefore Calabria weather is generally pleasant and comfortable. The summers tend to be hot but the winter is mild on the other way. However, this region of Italy experiences a pleasant weather that makes it a popular tourist destination.
